
Renegade skinning tutorial:
In this tutorial i will explain you how to skin a renegade vehicle,
this is exactly the same as skinning a infantry character.
Before we go skinning you need the following to be able to skin.
Copy of Renegade
A photo edit program, i use photoshop cs2
XCC mixer by Olaf van der Spek
DXT plugin to open DDS file formats
How to install DXT plugin,
copy all the file in your photoshop plugins folder,
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\
Plug-Ins\Adobe Photoshop Only\File Formats
Now open the XCC mixer,
if you start this program for the first time wait a good 5minuts,
the program will scan for more .mix files it looks like it freezed
but it will scan your whole hard drive.
When its ready browse to your always.dat and look
for the we will use the v_nodtank.dds

Right click the file, extract to your renegade data folder, and save.
Open up photoshop and open the v_nodtank.dds file, a message will promt
use existing bitmaps? NO! we dont.
Now start skinning your work, i made this :)

When you are done go to save as, browse to your data folder,
and make sjure the file name is EXACTLY the sam as it is in XCC.
Save as, v_nodtank.DDS. Press save
Check boxes,
1bit alpha DXT1
Generate MIP maps
Box filter
formats to preview ALL OF THEM
preview options
Alpha blending
enable filtering
mip mapping
anistropic
2d texture.
PRess save and your done
